Background of the College
Highland College was established in Amhara Regional, Bahir Dar town, Ethiopia, in August 2003 by a team of professionals who have many years of teaching experience at university and business consultancy service. Some of the share members are PhD holders and others are at master level in different disciplines. It’s a pioneer private College in the region, which was first started in a rented house. The College started its training by providing a one year teachers training (TTI) for students who completed 10th and 12th grade with the aim of producing a middle level skilled labor force who can contribute the economic growth of the country.
Our College has recorded enormous remarkable achievements in the past twelve years. Since its establishment, it has graduated thousands of competent professionals in various fields, programs, and levels; and as a result, has contributed its best to overall development endeavours of the country.
Currently, the College has two campuses, one main campus in Bahir Dar and its branch campus is at Enjibara. The College has also upgrading its training and offers Degree and TVET programs in various fields of study in regular, extension and distance divisions.
The building and classrooms
The College has now one main G+2 building and workshops, stores, staff and student cafeteria and a guard room. It has thirteen standardized class rooms for degree and TVET programs. The class rooms are spacious and clean. All class rooms are fit with green boards, instructor table and student armchair.
The ground building house is the office of the president, the academic dean and the Registrar. In front of this building, there is Finance, human resource & general service offices. The 1st floors of this building are allotted to Research and quality assurance, semi- instructor offices and class rooms. The second floors are also allocated computer laboratories, libraries, and semi- instructor and Technical staff offices.
